Musical.ly - What's that?

Musical.ly is a music video creation app similar to Vine - users edit and upload short clips of themselves dancing and lip-syncing to snippets of music. The app is especially popular with children and young teenagers, however, it is causing concern at the moment particularly in primary schools and is beginning to filter through in to secondary schools. I have heard a few students say they use it. It is worth noting that by default the settings are open!

Any app can be potentially unsafe for users particularly children, however the same can be said about skateboarding! Like so many things in life, it all comes down to effective parenting. Fortunately, it's easy to switch accounts to private. This means only you and approved musical.ly members (i.e. - your child's friends) can see the videos that they post.
