What is Malware

Malware is the most dangerous type of virus. It is often installed via things like: links in email and software installs. Malware sits on your computer and aims to break it. Often malware is closely related to ransomware, where malware will be on your computer, stopping you from using it, claiming you need to go to a website and pay £X to have your PC restored. Malware also corrupts files, along with many other undesirable things.

Malware is often used as the ‘Umbrella Term’ for most virus’ in general – many people call things such as adware and spyware malware as most virus’ are commonly known as either a virus or malware.
